We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Basildon.
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Produce detailed mechanical designs and drawings for systems and equipment.
- Generate manufacturing drawings, equipment layouts, and supporting documentation (schedules, BOMs, schematics).
- Maintain and update mechanical drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with the Drawing Office Manager to meet project timelines and collaborate with Mechanical Technicians and sub-suppliers.
- Assist with enquiry drawings, site surveys, and other Drawing Office tasks.
- Provide ongoing support for design modifications and upgrades.
Essential Experience & Knowledge for this Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Working knowledge of Autodesk products (AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D) or similar CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Experience with drafting standards, particularly BS 8888.
- Mechanical design experience in an industrial design role.
- Recognised engineering certification/apprenticeship.
- Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to interpret equipment assembly drawings and maintain high-quality standards.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in design and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of industry-recognised engineering design standards.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with automated production machinery or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of conveyor and ductwork design.
- Understanding of ATEX and safety standards for equipment design.
- Experience working in multi-functional project teams.
Salary:
- £35,000 - £40,000
