We are assisting our client in the search for a Lead IT Systems Engineer. If you are an IT infrastructure specialist with extensive team leadership experience this is a great opportunity to join an industry leading company in Cambridge.
Technical skills and attributes:
Strong experience line managing an engineering team.
Strong experience in all aspects of a Windows Server domains including configuration, management, troubleshooting of AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO etc.
Strong experience in managing and configuring Office365 & Exchange hybrid deployments.
Strong experience in technical documentation and communication.
Strong experience managing and configuring MacOS or Linux in corporate environments. Experience in JAMF a plus.
Strong experience configuring and managing Cloud Document Management solutions (Sharepoint, Box)
Strong experience configuring and managing Azure AD
Good experience managing Office 365 and associated cloud applications
Good experience managing and configuring: SCCM, SCOM, SQL.
Good experience managing and configuring virtualization infrastructure: VMware, Hyper V, VDI.
Good experience making network configuration changes: NAT, sub-netting, load balancing, VLANs, Radius, Firewall ACL etc.
Good scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) to enable things like self service portals and automation
Good experience using Enterprise Collaboration and Project Management tools like Atlassian, Slack, Zoom.
Good experience managing security solutions like MFA, Email Security Gateway, AV, EDR and DLP solutions.
Duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for the recruitment, training, mentoring and developing of the IT Systems Engineering team.
Responsible for the planning, design, implementation and delivery of Corporate IT projects.
Responsible for maintaining SLA’s on availability, resource and performance of Corp IT Infrastructure, Services and supported Development tools.
Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of all physical, virtual and cloud Corporate IT Infrastructure and supported Development Tools and Infrastructure.
Responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and testing System Backups / Restores
Responsible for the maintenance and implement all patch and release management for all software & operating systems. (Microsoft, Mac and third-party applications)
Responsible for Corporate IT Security and balancing the risks vs employee efficiency.
Provide technical support to the team and assist with support escalations from the Desktop Support Manager.
Continuously look for new opportunities to increase employee efficiency by providing effective tools and services and by implementing highly available and secure systems.
Diagnose, resolve and mitigate any problems and incidents affecting the infrastructure or availability of Corporate IT services.
Work closely with the Desktop Support Manager in crafting the best possible solution with the end user experience in mind.
