Job Title: Site-Based Project Manager (Mechanical Bias)
Location: East Birmingham
Rate: £350-£400 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 6 months - 5 days on-site
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site-Based Project Manager with a mechanical background to support the close-out and handover phase of a high-profile project in the healthcare sector. This is a contract role based on-site in East Birmingham, offering a competitive day rate inside IR35.
This role is critical to ensuring practical completion, capturing financial savings, and closing out multiple work fronts in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the close-out and handover process of specialist equipment to gain sign-off from stakeholders (Trust and CEF) in line with project contract and purchase order specifications.
Manage snagging, equipment checks, and final inspections, ensuring all works meet project drawings and compliance standards.
Collate, review, and present all commissioning and sign-off documentation for handover.
Track and report on early saving opportunities and ensure financial benefits are captured.
Manage and close out snagging lists provided by third-party consultants, ensuring full compliance with contract deliverables.
Liaise with and coordinate subcontractors to ensure timely and quality completion of outstanding works.
Collaborate closely with the M&E Manager, Principal Engineer, Document Control, and other site staff to ensure all systems are operational and ready for handover to the operational team.
Act as the on-site lead for mechanical aspects of the project.
Requirements:
Strong project management experience with a mechanical engineering bias.
Proven track record in managing project handover, snagging, and final close-out processes.
Experience working in healthcare or hospital environments is highly desirable.
Comfortable working under tight deadlines and managing multiple workstreams.
Strong organisational, communication, and coordination skills.
Experience working with subcontractors and overseeing quality of works.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
This is a critical delivery role, offering the opportunity to work on a significant infrastructure project with visible impact. The role requires full-time on-site presence, Monday to Friday, in East Birmingham.
