Our client, a well-established engineering company based in Sudbury, is seeking an experienced mechanically biased Project Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the full product lifecycle, from concept through to manufacturing, within a dynamic and growing business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee multiple projects, whilst also being involved with the design of the product
- Manage and coordinate the design process, working hands-on with the engineering team to create and modify detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet specifications, are manufacturable, and comply with industry standards.
- Conduct regular design reviews and provide guidance on technical and design-related issues, ensuring project requirements and industry regulations are met.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and comprehensive documentation to support the manufacturing and production processes.
- Troubleshoot design challenges and provide innovative solutions to complex mechanical problems.
- Support product testing, prototyping, and validation stages, ensuring designs meet performance and quality expectations.
- Ensure that engineering databases and drawing libraries are maintained in accordance with ISO standards.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to technical detail.
- Expertise in SolidWorks (3D CAD) and proficiency in generating 2D technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Desirable experience with sheet metal design, fabrication, or machining processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to overcoming engineering challenges.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
