Our client are recruiting a Senior Product Development Engineer (Inductors) to join their team in Norfolk. This role is incredibly exciting and unique, as you will be essentially heading up their new inductors division, therefore, you will need an extensive amount of knowledge and experience of working with inductors to be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities for this Senior Product Development Engineer:
- Lead In-Depth Development: Drive the full lifecycle of inductor product development, including design, testing, and quality assurance.
- Design Excellence: Create high-performance inductors for a range of applications, ensuring durability and reliability to meet rigorous standards.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to ensure design concepts translate seamlessly into exceptional products.
- Performance Analysis: Use simulation tools to analyze electromagnetic performance, bridging virtual models with real-world results for accuracy.
- Prototype and Test: Develop prototypes, test methodologies, and qualification plans to align with customer and product specifications.
- Customer-Focused Solutions: Interface with customers to understand technical needs, providing innovative, tailored solutions.
- Optimize for Manufacturability: Ensure inductor designs are not only high-performing but also cost-effective and manufacturable at scale.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for both product and process enhancements to keep the company at the forefront of inductor technology.
- Technical Reporting: Document designs, test outcomes, and other technical details, and present insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Industry Awareness: Stay ahead of trends and advancements in inductor design, ensuring the business continues to lead with cutting-edge products.
Qualifications & Skills needed for this Senior Product Development Engineer position:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's in Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Experience: 3+ years in inductor design, with deep knowledge of electromagnetic theory.
- Simulation Expertise: Proficient in electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, Maxwell, COMSOL).
- Material Knowledge: Experience with advanced magnetic materials and their applications in inductor design.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to interpret simulation and test results accurately.
- Prototype & Testing Experience: Familiar with prototype development, testing methodologies, and performance validation.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain complex technical concepts effectively.
- Teamwork: Collaborative, cross-functional team player with attention to detail and strong project management skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of industry standards for inductor design; PCB design experience is a plus.
